James and Mary Preston James and Mary (nee Struthers) lived in Carnagie Street, Edinburgh, Scotland. I have found only two offspring, Alexander and George both of whom emigrated to Canada (Toronto). There is 9 years between them so I can only presume that there were other siblings. They did at one time move to Gateshead in the North East of England but it would seem that they did not stay too long. It was in Gateshead that George was born.

George Struthers Preston George Struthers Preston (my greatgrandfather) was born in Gateshead (NE England) on the 24th of May 1886. The family soon moved back to Edinburgh. George married a woman called Jeanie they both emigrated to Toronto some time before 1915. In Toronto they lived at 150 1/2 Queen Street. George worked as a House Painter. On the 28th of July 1915 George joined the 58th battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. He was killed at Vimy in France on the 8th of October 1916. Alexander Preston Alexander was born in Edinburgh on the 27th of December 1876. He was Georges big brother. Alexander was married twice. He had a son, James, from his first marriage. Alexander, Susannah Kate (second wife) and James emigrated to Toronto some time before 1915. They live in Perth Avenue and later Symington Avenue. Alexander worked as a Labourer and James as a chocolate Maker. On the 10th. of December 1915 Alexander joined the 123rd Battalion CEF. He died in 1920 while still a serving soldier. He emigrated with his father and step mother to toronto some time before 1915. On the 28th of December he joined the 124th Overseas Battalion of the CEF. What happened to him after this date?
