If you find any links that are not working please contact us with the name of the link and the page you found it on as we are in the process of reorganising the information. If you have any comments or suggestions of what to include on the site please let us know. We ARE limited in the scope of what we can do with the format but please let us know if there is anything you would really like to see that we haven't thought of.

CONTACT US
--------------
There is a contact page on each part of the site but please do not use both as they are directed to the same email address. Please ensure your email address is correct and that you include a contact TELEPHONE NUMBER preferably a landline. In the subject line of the contact please tell us if you are in need of rehoming (REHOME) your dog or wish to adopt (ADOPT) with the name of the dog(s) you are interested in. We will then send you the appropriate forms and any further information you have requested by email (or post if you have used an internet café or library to access the website – please also include your full address and postcode if this is the case).

On this first page you will find current up to date news that maybe has hit the headlines, or events/places where will be having a stand. A weekly news from Director Ted (If we aren't too busy with taking in and rehoming the doggys that is). So watch this space for current events. The following pages may remain the same for a while as this is information that you may want to go back to for reference.

TED'S WEEKLY NEWS - 23 FEBRUARY

GREAT NORTH SWIM

One of our adoptive Mums, Katie Fish, has told us she is doing the Great North Swim this year. Here's what she says:

"Well I've gone and done it Ted.......I signed up for the Great North Swim again, I swam it last year to raise money for Cystic fibrosis. I raised a lot of money. So this year I thought I'd swim for Lancashire German Shepherd rescue too, after all, anything for our furry four legged friends1 I've started training already, I'm swimming at least 4 miles a week and a couple of trips are scheduled for Lake Windermere for some training days. The Great North Swim is a mile open water swim in lake Windermere in September. I hope to raise lots of money for Lancs. German Shepherd Rescue because if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have my beautiful boy Sar........I can't thank you enough for that. He's my life. Anyway I will let you know all the details and sort out some sponsorship forms as soon as possible. Hopefully I will raise loads of money for you whilst freezing to death in the lake. ha ha, speak to you soon loads of love Katie and Sar xxxxxxxx"

If you want to know more about it check out the site via the link below. If you would like to sponsor Katie please let us know. She's probably heard it before but with a name like Fish she's sure to do well!

TRAINING DAYS BY "DOGTASTIC" MARK

It doesn’t seem long since the first Sunday when Mark ran a “trial” session to see how it would go. That one was quickly fully booked and, through word of mouth and the websites, what was originally planned to be a “Once a Month” event became so popular that he’s has had to keep adding extra days to keep up with the demand!

It costs just £20 per dog and includes obedience, agility, socialisation, flyball AND refreshments! A great day for you and a great day for your dog!

Sessions are held at:

Rosemary Farm
Rosemary Lane
Bartle
PRESTON
PR4 0HB

come rain or come shine or even snow! (we prefer the shine but use the indoor arena on wet days)

Sunday training sessions are:

Sunday 11th and Sunday 25th April.
Please note these are normal MIXED TRAINING days.

I am proposing to run an ALL AGILITY TRAINING DAY on Sunday 16th May

Anyone interested please book early as they are always full.

Happy training, Mark.

Everyone who has been thoroughly enjoys them and wants to book another session so act fast and give Mark a call on 07950486661 to reserve a place. These days are always fully booked so please don’t turn up on the day hoping there will have been a cancellation, call in advance and make your booking.

TWENTY WAGGING TALES

Dear Ted

Re: 20 Wagging Tales.

At Christmas I bought seven of the above-mentioned books from you, six to use as Christmas presents and one for myself. What a lovely, but heart breaking book it is.

Normally it takes me several weeks to read a book, as I only read my books when I’m itrying to fall asleep and for some reason, usually the better the book, the quicker I fall asleep as I try to concentrate on the plot or whatever. In this case though, 20 Wagging Tails did not help me to fall asleep, it kept me up until 3am because I just could not put it down.

What a wonderful story, that couple, like you and Rita, are doing such a wonderful job, the only pity is that people like you and them are needed so much in this world of thoughtless, selfish and often times cruel people. I thank God that it is totally beyond my comprehension as to how anyone could abandon, hurt or neglect any animal. I can only think that anyone who could behave in such a dreadful way to their dog (as several in the book did), must be so lacking in basic humanity and integrity, that they have no feelings for anyone but themselves. How could anyone hurt or abandon a true friend who had given them so much love and loyalty without asking for much in return?

I was obviously appalled at what led the majority of the dogs to end up being rescued, but cried buckets when they were re-homed with such nice people. It was lovely to think that each of the dogs in the book, had been found a home were they would find true love and care and learn that not all humans are the ones who should be `put down’.

I sobbed for the poor guy who had become homeless and had been forced, through pure love of his dog, to give him up for adoption, in all his misery and strife, he put the dogs welfare first, it must have been so hard for him to part with the only thing he had left in his life that he truly loved.

The book should be put on the curriculum of all schools, both junior and senior, perhaps then some children who are unfortunate enough to have the family background where such things are allowed and even considered normal, may themselves learn compassion and empathy and not become like the vile so called human beings they live with.

Thanks for telling me about this book. Keep up the good work, as in this so called civilised age we live in, the work you do is so very important and much needed.

Best wishes to you and Rita.
