| Hearts, Hearts, Glorious Hearts |
Heart of Midlothian Football Club was founded in 1874 and is one of Scotlands oldest clubs.
Hearts play their home games at Tynecastle park, although maybe not for much longer. Tynecastle holds 18,000 fans (all seated), although is only ever full in matches against either Hibernian FC - their city rivals - or the Old Firm (Celtic and Rangers). |
Modern Hearts FC In recent years Scottish Football has been dominated by Celtic and Rangers, and although Hearts are now the "third force" in Scotland, there is still a great longing amongst their loyal fans to challenge the Glasgow giants.
Hearts FC last won a major trophy in 1998 when they defeated Rangers FC in the Scottish Cup Final 2-1 at Celtic Park in front of a crowd of 48,000. Colin Cameron and Stephane Adam grabbed the goals on that occasion with Ibrox legend Ally McCoist scoring for the Gers.
More recently Hearts won the Festival Cup in 2003 after defeating Hibs at Easter Road with an Andy Webster goal. However this cup is yet to be classed as a major event. |
