Thank you for your enquiry concerning the use of our rottweiler and neapolitan mastiff stud dogs.
We have been involved with dogs all our lives and with rotties since 1995. We initially bred and worked border collies from the early eighties and have been breeding rotties since 1995. Our rotties are primarily bred for temperament and looks. We currently have ONE male rottweiler STUD, and one neopolitan mastiff STUD, BOTH are proven stud dogs. And one blue neapolitan mastiff dog that we hope to prove in 2004. And one rottie Zac we hope to prove in 2004 after he is hip scored, and two rotties TANK AND TAZZ we hope to prove in 2005. they are just pups at minute. All our dogs have been brought up with children as family members.

THE MATING
The mating process is basically the same whichever stud you use. Firstly the age of the bitch is confirmed from the K.C. papers, we will not mate a bitch who is under two years old or over eight years old. Also it is helpful to establish if the bitch and stud are related. Next we will examine the bitch, this helps to introduce us to her so she will remain calm during the mating and also to establish the condition and readiness to be mated. We reserve the right to refuse the services of the stud if we feel that the bitch is in too poor a condition. If everything is ok we will carefully introduce the stud dog. This is done in one of our dog runs, you may watch from outside or come inside and help. The stud and bitch will probably play at first until they are comfortable with each other, we may keep the bitch on a lead depending on how calm she is. When they are ready the stud will mount the bitch and begin tentative thrusting motions. We do not use muzzles and if your bitch needs a muzzle we will not mate her. If the bitch is ready she will stand so that the stud can enter her, once inside his thrusts will become stronger and quicker until they are fast, deep thrusting movements. After a short while he will stop thrusting, this is the beginning of the tie. The stud dogs penis expands inside the bitch, her vaginal muscles grip the penis. The stud dog moves off the bitches back and we will normally carefully turn him so that they are facing away in the classic tie position. The bitch often becomes restless at this time; she may even cry out, this is normal and should be no cause for concern. We hold the bitch steady during the tie; our dogs are experienced and will usually just stand and wait. The tie may last 5 or 10 minutes or much longer, even 45 minutes +. The tie should break naturally after which we give both stud and bitch a brief examination to check that everything is ok. It is quite normal for liquid to drip from the bitches vagina afterwards, this is prostatic fluid, it does not contain sperm. Once the first mating is over the fee is now payable and we complete the paperwork. You can leave the bitch with us at no extra cost {at the owners risk} for additional matings or you can return with her in a couple of days time. We recommend at least two matings as identifying the exact ovulation day is not always accurate. A proof of mating and the litter registration form will be issued following the last mating.
